180 Turning Lives Around Receives $20,000 Grant to Support Domestic Violence Survivors
A $20,000 grant from the Mary Kay Ash Foundation will help sustain emergency shelter services for domestic violence survivors in Monmouth County, supporting critical safety and recovery programs.

180 Turning Lives Around has received a $20,000 grant from the Mary Kay Ash Foundation to support survivors of domestic violence in Monmouth County. The funding comes as part of the Foundation's national initiative to distribute $1 million in unrestricted grants to 50 domestic violence shelters across the country during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The grant will help sustain 180's Safe House, a 45-bed, 17,000-square-foot emergency shelter that provides comprehensive care for individuals and families fleeing abuse. The facility serves adult women and men, children, pets, and survivors with physical disabilities, ensuring all individuals seeking refuge receive appropriate care and support. Liz Graham, CEO of 180 Turning Lives Around, emphasized that the Safe House represents a critical emergency response program where survivors transition from concern and despair to confidence and determination.
The Mary Kay Ash Foundation has been dedicated to supporting women's issues since its founding in 1996, expanding its mission in 2000 to include domestic violence prevention. Through its annual shelter grant program, which has now invested over $57 million nationwide, the Foundation supports emergency housing, transitional services, counseling, and legal advocacy for survivors. More than 300 organizations applied for this year's shelter grants, with 180 Turning Lives Around being selected as one of only 50 recipients nationwide.
For nearly 50 years, 180 Turning Lives Around has provided safety, support, and hope to survivors of domestic and sexual violence throughout Monmouth County. The organization's programs include emergency shelter, crisis counseling, court and advocacy services, art therapy for children, and a 24/7 confidential hotline.
