1966 Jaguar XKE Series I Roadster Joins DFW Car & Toy Museum Collection After Meticulous Restoration
The DFW Car & Toy Museum has added a meticulously restored 1966 Jaguar XKE Series I Roadster to its collection, showcasing the car's timeless design and engineering excellence.

The DFW Car & Toy Museum has recently unveiled a fully restored 1966 Jaguar XKE Series I Roadster, a vehicle celebrated for its beauty and engineering, now part of the Ron Sturgeon Collection. This British icon, acquired in 2023 as a disassembled project, has been transformed through an extensive restoration process back into the head-turning masterpiece it was designed to be.
Brian Sturgeon, Director of the DFW Car & Toy Museum, highlights the significance of this addition, stating, 'Few cars capture the spirit of automotive design and engineering like the Jaguar XKE.' This particular roadster, now gleaming beneath a striking blue convertible top, has had all its components either replaced or restored to their original brilliance, including rubber seals, glass, wiring, and chrome trim.
Under the hood, the car boasts a rebuilt 4.2-liter inline-six engine with triple SU carburetors, delivering a factory-rated 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. The vehicle's performance is further enhanced by a rebuilt four-speed full-synchromesh manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, ensuring a balance of refinement and raw driving pleasure.
The Jaguar's fully overhauled four-wheel independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes, with inboard-mounted rear rotors, ensure it remains as capable on the road as it is beautiful in the museum. Inside, the car features a classic wood-rimmed steering wheel, an elegant black vinyl dash, and Smiths instrumentation, including a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer, creating a cockpit built for both spirited driving and sophisticated style.
This Jaguar XKE Series I Roadster is a testament to craftsmanship, passion, and history, making it a must-see for fans of vintage sports cars and British automotive excellence. The DFW Car & Toy Museum invites visitors to admire this stunning addition alongside more than 200 vehicles and thousands of collectible toys.
