39 Facilities Achieve Top Safety Honor in Chlorine Industry
The Chlorine Institute recognized 39 North American and international facilities for exceptional safety and environmental performance, demonstrating industry-wide commitment to zero incidents and sustainable operations.

The Chlorine Institute (CI) has honored 39 facilities across North America and internationally with its prestigious Diamond Level safety recognition, highlighting remarkable achievements in safety and environmental stewardship within the chlor-alkali industry.
The Diamond Level designation represents the highest achievement in CI's Safety and Environmental Recognition Program, awarded to facilities that maintained zero recordable injuries, zero reportable quantity incidents, and zero Risk Management Plan reportable accidents over a consecutive five-year period. Recognized facilities span multiple sectors, including chlor-alkali producers, chlorine packagers, sodium hypochlorite manufacturers, and chlorine industrial users.
CI President Frank Reiner emphasized the significance of this recognition, stating that it embodies the industry's 'Aim for Zero' philosophy. The program not only celebrates current achievements but also inspires continuous improvement across the industry by setting rigorous safety and environmental standards.
The recognized facilities represent a diverse geographic range, including locations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and Germany. Major companies such as Dow Chemical Company, Covestro LLC, and Brenntag North America were among those receiving the top safety honor.
Chlorine, a critical chemical with applications ranging from water disinfection to pharmaceutical manufacturing and plastic production, requires meticulous safety management. By recognizing facilities that demonstrate exceptional performance, the Chlorine Institute underscores the importance of safety and environmental responsibility in chemical manufacturing and usage.
