Arkema Achieves Global ISCC+ Certification for All Powder Coating Resin Facilities
Arkema has completed ISCC PLUS certification for its polyester powder coating resins manufacturing sites worldwide, enabling customers across multiple industries to advance more sustainable coating solutions through mass balance methodologies.

Arkema has achieved ISCC PLUS certification for its polyester powder coating resins facility in North Kansas City, Missouri, completing the company's global certification roadmap that now includes all its powder resin plants worldwide. This milestone means Arkema's facilities in North Kansas City (US), Saint Celoni, Spain (EMEA), and Navi Mumbai, India (Asia) are all certified under the company's global Mass Balance powder resins offer strategy.
The certification supports customers across various regions in advancing more sustainable solutions for coatings used in multiple markets, including consumer products such as domestic appliances, electronics, automotive, architectural metal finishes, e-mobility, and metal furniture. Linda Armitage, Business Manager for Powder Coating Resins at Arkema, stated that the company has prioritized and accelerated attaining ISCC+ certification at all powder resin plants worldwide over the past few years.
These certifications reflect Arkema's long-term commitment to reducing the product carbon footprint in coatings and related industries. Powder coatings resins provide solvent-free, low-waste, and highly durable solutions, making them a key enabler of sustainable innovation for customers, suppliers, end users, and partners. The mass balance traceability chain method, as defined by ISCC, tracks material flow through production systems and attributes inputs to outputs through certified bookkeeping.
This certification initiative is part of a larger Mass Balance and certification roadmap covering multiple technologies and products for coatings and related products. The roadmap encompasses a complete range of bio-attributed specialty resins and additives, including high solids, waterborne, UV-LED-EB, and polyester powder materials. Bio-attributed content indicates that biobased or recycled feedstock has been ascribed using mass-balance methodology, with the percentage breakdown based on ISCC+ methodology calculations.
Arkema's achievement supports the growing demand for sustainable materials across global industries while maintaining the durability and performance characteristics essential for various coating applications. The company's structured approach to specialty materials, including Adhesive Solutions, Advanced Materials, and Coating Solutions, positions it to address evolving sustainability requirements in multiple sectors.
