Aspen Power Expands Pennsylvania Solar Portfolio with 6.85 MW Community Projects
Aspen Power's acquisition of two Pennsylvania community solar projects represents significant progress toward the state's renewable energy goals while creating jobs and providing affordable clean electricity to local communities.

Aspen Power has closed on the acquisition of two community solar projects in Northampton, Pennsylvania, with a combined capacity of 6.85 megawatts direct current. These projects mark the first to close under a portfolio totaling 18 MWdc under contract with Syncarpha Capital, LLC, representing a strategic expansion of the company's renewable energy footprint in the state.
Industry estimates from the Solar Energy Industries Association indicate these projects will create approximately 130 jobs, providing significant economic benefits to the local community. The ground-mounted systems are expected to generate nearly 9 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually, equivalent to powering over 800 homes. This development comes at a critical time as Pennsylvania works toward its target of sourcing 18% of its electricity from renewables by 2025.
Jorge Vargas, Chief Executive Officer of Aspen Power, emphasized the importance of these projects, stating that solar has become the most affordable source of new electricity in the U.S. Despite challenging national political conditions, the company continues to execute and bring projects online. The partnership with Syncarpha Capital creates reliable long-term income for landowners while delivering affordable clean energy to residents and contributing to grid resilience.
Cliff Chapman, co-founder and CEO of Syncarpha Capital, noted that the company selected Aspen Power as a partner due to their reliability as a counterparty, strong financial backing, and proven execution capabilities. These transactions represent only a fraction of Syncarpha's organically developed Pennsylvania pipeline, indicating potential for further expansion in the state's clean energy sector.
Aspen Power has established a substantial presence in Pennsylvania with more than 100 MW of operating and in-construction assets across the state. As electricity demand continues to grow, solar's rapid deployment capabilities make it an essential solution for meeting near-term energy needs. The company's nationwide leadership in distributed generation includes development or acquisition of more than 600 renewable energy projects across 26 states, positioning it as a key player in the transition toward a more affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy future.
