Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii Expands to Boulder with Community-Focused Café

Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii opened its newest location in Boulder on September 18, bringing premium Hawaiian coffees and community-focused experiences to the Colorado market. The café at 2850 Baseline Road features handcrafted coffees, branded merchandise, and a food menu with Hawaiian influences, positioning itself as a gathering spot near the University of Colorado campus.

The Boulder location is owned and operated by local entrepreneur Beth Deasy, alongside longtime colleagues Andi Nakata and Stephanie Hooper. The team brings experience from previous ventures including Denver-area gymnastics centers and educational facilities. The café features two patios, an outdoor fireplace, and employs 24 local baristas, many of whom are university students. Deasy stated, "We're bringing the warm aloha spirit to Boulder! Craft coffee, friendly faces, and a welcoming spot between campus and the dorms where study sessions and hangouts for coffee lovers of all ages can share in our 'ohana."

The opening reflects Bad Ass Coffee's aggressive expansion strategy, with the brand planning to open multiple new locations nationwide over the next five years. Scott Snyder, CEO of Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii, emphasized the alignment between Boulder's community values and the brand's Hawaiian roots: "With our origins from Hawaii, we too share that same commitment to 'Ohana (family) and investment as an integral part of the community." The company offers premium Hawaiian coffee blends and has additional stores planned for development.

Guests can join the 'Ohana Rewards loyalty program, which provides $5 off and 89 points after the first purchase. The Boulder location operates from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily, with mobile and delivery options forthcoming. Deasy also plans to expand to Lakewood's Belmar shopping center during the winter holiday season, indicating continued growth in the Colorado market.
