Baltimore Children & Youth Fund Awards Millions to Grassroots Groups, Enhancing Youth Opportunities

The Baltimore Children & Youth Fund (BCYF) has announced a substantial investment of over $10 million and more than 150 hours of learning opportunities for the youth-development ecosystem in Baltimore for the fiscal year 2025. This initiative, part of BCYF Month, highlights the fund's dedication to equity, youth leadership, and community engagement, with over 175 awards granted to grassroots organizations making a tangible difference in the lives of young people across the city.

Grantees, selected through BCYF's intergenerational Community Grant Review process, include a diverse range of organizations such as the Chris Wilson Foundation, Youth As Resources, and A Prosperous Tomorrow. These groups are recognized for their meaningful engagement with youth, addressing systemic barriers, and creating pathways for economic prosperity and health in underserved communities. Devin Jackson of A Prosperous Tomorrow emphasized the transformative impact of BCYF's support, enabling the expansion of programs that equip youth with high-value skills and reduce juvenile arrest rates.

BCYF's approach not only provides financial support but also fosters a supportive ecosystem through professional development sessions for prospective applicants. This model has enabled pilot projects to evolve into citywide programs and established grantees to mentor newer cohorts, creating a sustainable network of support. Michael Rosenband of Requity praised the inclusive and enriching partnership with BCYF, highlighting the opportunities for team members to engage with the broader BCYF-funded cohort and participate in inspiring conversations.

Alysia Lee, President of BCYF, reiterated the fund's mission to build infrastructure around community-rooted excellence, ensuring that Baltimore's youth are surrounded by opportunities. With over $31 million awarded since 2020, BCYF continues to demonstrate its commitment to transforming the lives of young people in Baltimore.
