Bark Social, the innovative dog-friendly beer garden and play space, has officially reopened its doors in Baltimore, signaling a new chapter under the ownership of Brad Notaro. The Canton resident, who took over the brand's Baltimore and Columbia, Md., locations through We Love Pets for $500,000, has introduced several enhancements to the beloved establishment. These include healthier menu options, dog-themed beverages, and upgraded dog suites, aiming to elevate the experience for both pets and their owners.

The reopening comes after a challenging period for Bark Social, which filed for bankruptcy last November, leaving customers and staff in limbo. The company, which had expanded to five locations across the Mid-Atlantic since its founding in 2019, faced criticism for the abrupt closure and unrefunded memberships. However, the revival under Notaro's leadership has been met with enthusiasm from the community, with early events drawing significant turnout.

Notaro, a former employee at cybersecurity company ZeroFox, saw the acquisition as a perfect opportunity to revive a local favorite. The rebranded Bark Social retains its core features, such as the open-air beer wall and 'Bark Ranger' staff, but with added touches that reflect Notaro's vision for a more inclusive and upgraded space. Angelic Cruz, the new general manager and a former assistant GM, emphasized the sense of community and family that defines Bark Social, stating, 'We are back, and we are better.'

Membership pricing has seen a slight increase under the new ownership, with annual dog memberships now at $385, up from $365, and daily passes increasing to $12 from $10. Notaro justified the adjustments based on feedback from former members during soft-launch events. The Columbia location is expected to reopen this fall, further expanding Bark Social's footprint in the region.
