Bay Area Dog Rescue Receives Water Heater Donation to Enhance Animal Care
Stewart Heating, Plumbing & Air Conditioning donated and installed a water heater at Hugs for Harry Dog Rescue, enabling a new laundry and dog washing facility to improve sanitation and reduce costs.
Hugs for Harry Dog Rescue, a nonprofit dedicated to saving vulnerable dogs in the Bay Area, has received an in-kind donation of a 40-gallon electric water heater from Stewart Heating, Plumbing & Air Conditioning, a Lafayette-based contractor. The water heater was installed at the rescue's new facility in Lafayette, California, providing hot water to a new in-house laundry and dog washing station.
The donation addresses a critical infrastructure need at the facility, which Hugs for Harry relocated to in January 2026. While the new location offered more space, it lacked adequate plumbing for hot water, hindering sanitation efforts. The new equipment is expected to reduce operational costs and improve the health and wellbeing of the dogs by enabling regular cleaning and grooming.
"Our team is honored to support an organization doing such meaningful work in the community," said a representative from Stewart Heating, Plumbing & Air Conditioning. "Providing this water heater and installation is a small way we can contribute to the comfort and care of these animals and the people who dedicate their time to helping them."
Hugs for Harry rescues dogs from abandonment, medical neglect, and overcrowded shelters where they face euthanasia. The organization relies on community donations and volunteers to sustain its mission. The water heater donation allows the rescue to allocate more resources to direct animal care.
