Blue Faery Launches Spanish-Language Liver Health Workshops to Address Healthcare Disparities During Hispanic Heritage Month

Blue Faery: The Adrienne Wilson Liver Cancer Association is addressing healthcare disparities in the Hispanic community through its Love Your Liver program, offering two free Spanish-language online workshops during Hispanic Heritage Month. The sessions, scheduled for September 24 at 7 p.m. ET and October 9 at 8 p.m. ET, feature presentations from distinguished physicians Dr. Andrés Gómez-Aldana, a gastroenterologist and liver cancer researcher, and Dr. María Rita Lepe-Suastegui, a gastroenterologist and transplant hepatologist.

The initiative responds to the significantly higher risk of liver disease and liver cancer faced by Hispanic Americans compared to other demographic groups. Language and cultural barriers have historically limited access to critical health information within this community, creating substantial healthcare disparities. Blue Faery's program directly addresses these challenges by providing culturally relevant education in Spanish, enabling participants to gain practical knowledge about prevention, diagnosis, and treatment options.

Each workshop includes a live question-and-answer session, allowing patients, caregivers, and community members to engage directly with medical experts and receive personalized guidance. This interactive component enhances the educational value of the program, ensuring participants can address specific concerns and gain actionable insights into liver health management. The workshops are part of Blue Faery's broader mission to prevent, treat, and cure primary liver cancer through research, education, and advocacy initiatives.

Registration is required for the free workshops, with details available at https://loveyourliver.org. The organization maintains additional resources including an online Liver Cancer Community for patients and caregivers, comprehensive Patient Resource Guides for Liver Cancer, and various educational programs such as HCC Lunch & Learn, The Truth About Liver Cancer, and You and Liver Cancer. These efforts collectively work to bridge healthcare information gaps and empower communities with knowledge to protect liver health proactively.
