Blue Lagoon Commissions MBBR Water Treatment System and Sets Underground Mining Start Date at Dome Mountain
Blue Lagoon Resources advances its Dome Mountain gold project with a new water treatment system and imminent mining operations, highlighting environmental compliance and operational readiness in British Columbia's constrained permitting landscape.

Blue Lagoon Resources Inc. has announced the commissioning of its Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) water treatment system at the Dome Mountain Water Treatment Plant and confirmed the start of underground mining operations for September 24, 2025. The MBBR system, designed to meet all regulatory discharge standards, was developed in collaboration with Soren Jensen, the company's principal environmental consultant from SRK Consulting. Jensen, a chemical engineer with over two decades of experience in mine water treatment systems, ensured the facility is engineered for efficiency and full compliance with permit conditions.
The water treatment plant is capable of processing up to 400 liters per minute, significantly exceeding the current mine water output of 20-40 liters per minute, providing ample capacity as operations scale. This infrastructure underscores Blue Lagoon's commitment to environmental stewardship while supporting safe underground development. Mining will commence with development work, targeting a ramp-up to 100 tonnes per day within four weeks and 150 tonnes per day within twelve weeks, with all mine waste remaining underground to align with environmental and regulatory commitments.
To enhance operational readiness and safety, Blue Lagoon has signed a Mutual Aid Agreement with New Gold Inc., ensuring rapid access to emergency support if needed. The underground program will be led by Mike McCartin, an experienced mining geologist, supported by a senior mining engineer from Roughstock Mining Services to establish protocols and standard operating procedures. President and CEO Rana Vig emphasized the project's significance, noting that Dome Mountain is one of only nine projects permitted in British Columbia since 2015, positioning the company for near-term cash flow with a focus on safety and environmental care.
