Boca Helping Hands' Bowling for Bread Event to Support Weekend Meal Program for Children
The annual Bowling for Bread event by Boca Helping Hands aims to fund the Backpacks weekend meal program, ensuring food-insecure students in local schools receive adequate nutrition.
Boca Helping Hands (BHH) is set to host its annual Bowling for Bread event on Sunday, August 24, at Lucky Strike in Boca Raton, with proceeds supporting the BHH Backpacks weekend meal program for children in area schools. This initiative provides food-insecure students with meals every Friday to ensure they have enough to eat over the weekend. Last school year, the program assisted over 1,100 students across 13 schools, distributing more than 181,000 meals and 60,000 snacks.
The event, part of the Boca Chamber Festival Days, invites children from local charities to enjoy bowling, food, and fun at no cost. Community members can contribute by sponsoring a child for $100, a lane for $500, or making a donation of any size. Major sponsors include the Lee Pearlson Steinberg Foundation, which has supported the event for fourteen years, and Ovation Home Insurance Exchange, among others.
Lee Steinberg, Trustee of the Lee Pearlson Steinberg Foundation, expressed pride in continuing the tradition in memory of his mother, Pearl, whose passion for children's causes inspired the foundation's involvement.
