Canvas Worldwide has signed a new 68,301-square-foot office lease at 2330 Utah Avenue in El Segundo, California, effectively doubling its West Coast headquarters space from the previous 36,000 square feet it occupied in Playa Vista. The media agency, which maintains dual headquarters in Los Angeles and New York, worked with commercial real estate firm JLL to secure the new location, representing a substantial expansion for the independent media agency launched in 2015.

The move carries significant implications for both Canvas Worldwide and the broader media landscape in Southern California. According to CEO Paul Woolmington, the relocation represents more than just physical expansion, serving as a reflection of the agency's momentum and commitment to innovation. "Our new El Segundo headquarters is more than just a larger space," Woolmington stated. "It's a reflection of our momentum, our culture of innovation, and our investment in the future of our people and our clients."

JLL's representation in the transaction highlights the strategic importance of location selection for creative companies. Managing Director Jason Fine emphasized that the building's unique design elements were crucial to meeting Canvas Worldwide's needs. "As a creative company, it's essential that we identified a space for Canvas Worldwide that is a unique building, with unique design elements that represents their culture, fosters collaboration, and accommodates its growth," Fine explained. The property at 2330 Utah Avenue features distinctive architectural elements including 24-foot ceilings, large windows, skylights, and private outdoor space.

The expansion underscores El Segundo's growing appeal as a destination for media and creative tenants. Senior Managing Director Blake Searles noted that modern companies prioritize buildings with abundant amenities in locations easily accessible to employees. "This is the perfect building for Canvas Worldwide to attract and retain the best people and continuing its standing as one of the best places to work," Searles added. The move signals confidence in the Southern California market despite broader economic uncertainties affecting commercial real estate.

El Segundo Mayor Chris Pimentel welcomed the expansion, noting the city's growing community of media and innovation-driven firms. "Canvas Worldwide's expansion into a distinctive, collaborative space reflects both their vision and our city's status as a hub for cutting-edge creativity," Pimentel stated. The relocation is expected to have positive economic impacts on the local community while reinforcing El Segundo's position as an attractive alternative to traditional media hubs.

For Canvas Worldwide, which services major clients including Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, and Amazon MGM Studios, the expansion represents both practical necessity and strategic positioning. The agency's growth from regional offices in Chicago, Dallas, Denver, and Atlanta to now significantly expanding its West Coast presence demonstrates the ongoing evolution of media agency geography and the importance of physical workspace in fostering innovation and collaboration in the post-pandemic era.
