Centenario Gold Begins Exploration at Los Reyes Copper-Gold Project in Mexico

Centenario Gold Corp. (TSXV: CTG) announced the start of initial work at its Los Reyes copper-gold project near Chihuahua, Mexico, marking the first systematic exploration of historic underground workings that date back to the early 1900s. The company is undertaking detailed mapping and sampling of old mine workings along a north-south trending contact zone that extends for one kilometer, an area that has never been systematically sampled despite past production by ASARCO.

The significance of this announcement lies in the potential to uncover significant copper, zinc, and silver resources in a region that has seen limited modern exploration. The Los Reyes project, located approximately 170 kilometers south-southeast of Chihuahua City, covers an important historical mining area centered along the western contact of a large granodiorite intrusive body. Historical mining activities date back to the early 1700s, and in the late 1800s, ASARCO mined approximately 200,000 tons of high-grade Cu-Zn-Ag material at the Jibosa workings.

Following the initial mapping and sampling program, Centenario plans to commence a 1500-meter diamond drilling program to test extensions of the high-grade Cu-Zn-Ag skarn zone at depths greater than 100 meters. The company has submitted an environmental study report and expects to receive permits by late April 2026, with drilling to begin immediately thereafter. This drilling program is designed to follow up on previous exploration by Valterra Resource Corporation, which in 2019 conducted surface sampling along an 800-meter strike covering the Cu-Au skarn zone. Valterra's results showed an average copper grade of 3.1%, with 22 of 28 samples exceeding 1% copper, and anomalous values reaching up to 0.57 g/t gold, 25.3 g/t silver, 0.47% molybdenum, and 1.7% zinc.

Centenario's work program is particularly important because the Los Reyes project has not been systematically drilled, and the historic underground workings offer potential for discovery of deeper mineralization. The exploration target is over 100 meters in width and hosts multiple zones of strong copper enrichment. The company's management believes that modern exploration techniques could unlock significant value in this underexplored region.

Centenario Gold Corp., based in Vancouver, Canada, is focused on acquiring and developing high-potential mineral projects in the Americas, with an emphasis on gold, copper, and silver. The company is committed to responsible exploration and works closely with local communities.
