Certified Guaranty Company (CGC) has achieved unprecedented growth in the card grading industry, with record-breaking numbers in May 2025, signaling a booming interest in collectible cards and their valuation.
The card grading industry is witnessing a historic surge, with Certified Guaranty Company (CGC) leading the charge as the fastest-growing service in the sector. In May 2025 alone, CGC graded a staggering 570,000 cards, a significant leap from April's 341,000, marking a milestone that doubles the growth rate of its nearest competitor. This growth is not just a testament to CGC's expanding influence but also highlights the increasing value and demand for graded collectible cards in the market.
Collectors are particularly drawn to the CGC Pristine 10 label, introduced in 2023, which has become a gold standard for card quality and value. For instance, an Alpha Black Lotus card with this grade sold for a record $3 million in a private sale in April 2024. Similarly, sports cards graded by CGC are fetching high prices at auctions, with a Victor Wembanyama rookie card graded CGC 9.5 realizing over $100,000 recently.
The company's growth is reflected in the numbers, with sports cards up 631% and TCGs up 146% year-over-year in May. This surge is attributed to CGC's commitment to providing fast, accurate, and affordable grading services, alongside strategic global expansions. With offices in London, Munich, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and soon Dubai, CGC is poised to grade 10 million cards by the end of the year, setting new benchmarks in the collectible card industry.
