Christian City Celebrates 60 Years of Service with Expansion and New Programs
Christian City marks its 60th anniversary with significant growth, including new housing and programs for seniors, youth, and neurodiverse adults in Metro Atlanta.

Christian City, a Union City nonprofit, celebrates its 60th anniversary with a year of significant growth and transformation, expanding its services and housing to meet the needs of children, families, young adults, and seniors across Metro Atlanta. Originally founded in 1965 to support children in foster care, the organization has grown into a 500-acre campus serving over 1,000 residents with a wide range of programs.
This year, Christian City is launching several initiatives, including the construction of 160 new residential units for seniors, representing a 70% increase in housing capacity for adults 55+. A partnership with Southern Regional Medical Center has also enabled the nonprofit to offer on-site medical services for seniors. Additionally, a new program with Two Sparrows will provide housing and skills-based programming for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The organization's Graceland Thrift Store is undergoing renovations, with a mural by former resident Arshaad Norwood to celebrate Christian City's legacy. Future developments include a 15-acre mixed-use village on the campus, featuring retail, residential spaces, and public green areas.
Keith Horton, President and CEO of Christian City, emphasized the nonprofit's commitment to serving society's most vulnerable, stating, 'With the help of our generous supporters, staff, and community partners, we have laid the groundwork for our most transformative year yet.' Christian City's programs range from residential group homes for children to foster care and adoption services, support for youth experiencing homelessness, and affordable senior living options.
