Cirque du Soleil's LUZIA Production to Transform South Florida Entertainment Landscape in 2026

Cirque du Soleil will present its visually stunning production LUZIA under the Big Top at Gulfstream Park from February 19 to April 25, 2026, bringing a unique cultural experience to South Florida audiences. The show represents a significant addition to the region's entertainment landscape, combining traditional Mexican elements with groundbreaking circus artistry that has earned critical acclaim from publications including The New York Times, which described it as "Cirque du Soleil at its peak."

LUZIA introduces several innovative technical achievements to touring circus productions, most notably incorporating rain directly into acrobatic and artistic scenes. This marks the first time Cirque du Soleil has integrated precipitation into a touring show, creating unprecedented visual and performance elements. Cyr Wheel artists perform the remarkable feat of rolling and spinning under rainfall, while aerialists suspended from Trapezes fly and twirl through pouring showers, pushing the boundaries of traditional circus disciplines.

The production takes audiences on a surreal journey through an imaginary Mexico, smoothly transitioning from an old movie set to ocean scenes, smoky dance halls, and arid deserts. Written and directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca in association with Brigitte Poupart, LUZIA creates a sumptuous world suspended between dreams and reality that incorporates multiple places, faces, and sounds of Mexico drawn from both tradition and modernity. Additional jaw-dropping performances include Hoop Diving on gigantic treadmills, a male contortionist, an Aerial Straps specialist performing at the center of a cenote, a juggler handling seven pins at breakneck speed, and football freestylers blending street dance with ball manipulation.
