Citizens Commission on Human Rights to Host Purple Heart Day Event in Clearwater
The Florida chapter of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights is organizing an event to honor Purple Heart recipients, highlighting the importance of recognizing veterans' sacrifices and addressing their unique challenges.

The Florida chapter of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) is set to host an event commemorating Purple Heart Day on August 2nd at the historic Fort Harrison in downtown Clearwater. This event aims to honor those awarded the Purple Heart Medal for their service, with families of recipients also invited to attend. The evening will feature a reception starting at 5pm, followed by a banquet at 5:30pm, including a presentation by the Tampa area U.S. Marine Color Guard and speeches focusing on veterans' issues and available support networks.
The Purple Heart Medal, originating from George Washington's 1782 Badge of Military Merit, is the oldest military award still given to U.S. service personnel wounded or killed in action. The August 2nd event not only pays tribute to these individuals but also seeks to raise awareness about the challenges they face, offering hope through solutions and support networks.
