Colorado FIRST Mourns the Loss of Board Director Tony English, Appoints Debbie English as Successor
Colorado FIRST announces the passing of Board Director Tony English, a pivotal figure in STEM education, and the appointment of Debbie English to continue his legacy.

Colorado FIRST has announced the passing of Tony English, a Board Director and Executive Director, who died on June 16, 2025. English was a mechanical engineer, Army veteran, and a co-owner of Neaera Consulting Group, known for his work in connected and automated vehicle systems. His dedication to STEM education began in 2006 with the launch of a FIRST® LEGO® League team for his children, which evolved into Team 4499 "The Highlanders", impacting over 150 students.
English's contributions to STEM education and his leadership were recognized nationally in 2015 when he received the Woody Flowers Finalist Award. Joining the Colorado FIRST Board of Directors in May 2022, his mission was to expand access to FIRST programs across Colorado. Following his passing, the Board has appointed Debbie English, his wife and a long-standing Program Leader for Colorado FIRST, as the new Executive Director and Board Member.
The Board expressed their sorrow over Tony's passing, highlighting his energy, wisdom, and kindness. They expressed confidence in Debbie's ability to lead Colorado FIRST, given her dedication to STEM opportunities and her shared vision with Tony. Tony English's legacy in inspiring future generations through STEM education will continue to influence Colorado FIRST's mission.
