Critical Metals Corp Secures Rare Earth Offtake Agreement with Ucore to Reduce Western Dependence on China
Critical Metals Corp has signed a letter of intent to supply rare earth concentrate from its Tanbreez Project to Ucore's processing facilities, advancing Western efforts to establish an independent rare earth supply chain and address national security concerns.

Critical Metals Corp (Nasdaq: CRML) has signed a letter of intent for a multi-year offtake agreement with Ucore Rare Metals Inc, marking a significant step in developing Western rare earth supply chains independent of Chinese dominance. Under the arrangement, Critical Metals Corp will supply up to 10,000 metric tons annually of rare earth concentrate from its Tanbreez Project in Southern Greenland, representing approximately 10% of the project's initial projected production.
The concentrate will serve as feedstock for Ucore's rare earth element processing facilities in Alexandria, Louisiana and Kingston, Ontario. The Louisiana facility, which received support and funding from the state government and the U.S. Department of Defense, will produce high-purity rare earth oxides from mixed rare earth carbonates or oxides that Critical Metals Corp expects to produce at Tanbreez. This partnership directly addresses growing concerns about China's control over the global rare earth market, which is critical for defense applications, clean energy technologies, and next-generation electronics.
Pat Ryan, Chairman and CEO of Ucore, emphasized the strategic importance of the agreement, stating that both companies share a vision to lessen China's grip on the rare earth ecosystem in the West. The Tanbreez Project's significant concentration of heavy rare earths makes it particularly valuable for Ucore's processing operations. Tony Sage, CEO and Executive Chairman of Critical Metals Corp, noted that this offtake provides the company with its first buyer while maintaining flexibility to supply other US-based rare earth facilities in the future, leveraging the immense size of the Tanbreez deposit.
The parties are currently working toward definitive documentation, with execution of final agreements subject to customary conditions including completion of due diligence, finalization of commercial terms, and necessary approvals. This development comes as Western nations increasingly prioritize securing domestic supplies of critical minerals essential for national security and technological advancement.
