Veteran entrepreneurs Richard Smith and Kyle Parkinson have opened a new D1 Training location in Coeur d'Alene, bringing sports-science backed athletic training programs to the community while contributing to the brand's national expansion strategy.

D1 Training, a fitness enrichment concept utilizing athletic-based training methodologies, has launched a new facility in Coeur d'Alene at 8632 N Government Way. The opening marks the brand's continued national expansion through franchising, with more than 100 performance centers operational and over 100 additional locations in development stages.
Local entrepreneurs and veterans Richard Smith and Kyle Parkinson lead the new location, joining a roster of franchisees that includes professional athletes. Smith, a former Division I wrestler with exercise science background and two decades of medical marketing experience, identified a need for structured, sports-science-based training for young athletes in the area. Parkinson brings seasoned entrepreneurial experience to the partnership, sharing a vision for community building through fitness.
The facility employs a team of elite local talent, including General Manager Jake McNitt, strength coach JJ Njoku, and Assistant General Manager McKaylee Sloane. The training programs are based on five athletic tenets: dynamic warm-up, performance, strength program, core and conditioning, and cool down. D1 Training offers four age-based programs serving athletes from ages 7 through adulthood, along with group, semi-private, and one-on-one training options.
The expansion reflects D1 Training's strategic growth model seeking financially qualified business builders, former athletes, and entrepreneurs passionate about fitness and youth sports. Founded in 2001 by former NFL player Will Bartholomew and based in Nashville, the company impacts approximately 30,000 athletes nationwide across 135 locations.
