Darktrace Appoints New CFO and CRO to Drive Growth Amid Cybersecurity Expansion

Darktrace, a global leader in AI for cybersecurity, has appointed Suman Raju as Chief Financial Officer and Hein Hellemons as Chief Revenue Officer to its Executive Committee. These strategic appointments come at a critical time for the cybersecurity industry as organizations worldwide face increasingly sophisticated threats and rapid digital transformation.

As CFO, Raju will oversee Darktrace's financial strategy and execution, ensuring resources and investments align with the company's long-term financial objectives. He brings extensive experience scaling public and private B2B enterprise SaaS companies, having most recently served as CFO at Ivalua where he helped prepare the company for public markets and drove strong growth in recurring revenue and profitability. Raju previously held CFO roles at Crownpeak Technologies and SAP Ariba, where he led international teams and supported merger and acquisition activities.

Hellemons assumes the CRO role with responsibility for leading global Sales and Solutions Engineering, focusing on strengthening customer and prospect engagement across key markets and industries. His background includes serving as CRO at KnowBe4, where he led global sales, marketing, customer success, and channel operations while playing a key role in scaling the business. Hellemons brings additional experience from senior leadership positions at VMware, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft, with expertise in enterprise sales and global go-to-market strategy.

Both executives will report directly to CEO Jill Popelka, who expressed confidence in their ability to drive Darktrace's continued growth. "I'm thrilled to welcome Suman and Hein to the executive team. Hein leads with a deep focus on customer excellence, and Suman brings exceptional global finance experience from high-growth software businesses. Their expertise will be critical as we continue to scale and transform," Popelka stated.

The appointments signal Darktrace's strategic focus on strengthening its leadership team following its sale to Thoma Bravo last year. Raju succeeds Cathy Graham, who served as CFO since 2020 and left the role in September, while Hellemons replaces Denise Walter, who stepped down as CRO after the Thoma Bravo acquisition.

Raju emphasized the company's position in AI innovation, noting, "Darktrace is at the forefront of AI innovation in cybersecurity, and I'm excited to join the team at a time of real momentum and transformation. We have tremendous opportunity ahead, and I look forward to helping us build the strong foundations that will support our next stage of sustainable growth in the U.S. and across our global markets."

Hellemons highlighted the importance of Darktrace's technology in addressing evolving cyber threats. "What drew me to Darktrace is its best-in-class technology – AI that can detect never-before-seen threats in real time and protect organizations across their entire digital ecosystem. As cyber threats grow, this capability has never been more critical for organizations as they seek to protect themselves and safely drive technology adoption across their enterprise."

These leadership changes occur as Darktrace continues to expand its ActiveAI Security Platform, which provides pre-emptive visibility into security posture and detects and autonomously responds to threats in real-time. The company's proprietary AI technology learns from unique patterns within each customer's environment, representing a significant advancement in proactive cybersecurity defense capabilities.
