Dawson Geophysical Invests $24 Million in Geospace Technologies' Pioneer Seismic Nodes
Dawson Geophysical Company's $24 million purchase of Geospace Technologies' Pioneer seismic land nodes marks a significant advancement in seismic data acquisition, offering lightweight, efficient solutions for the energy exploration sector.

Dawson Geophysical Company has made a substantial investment in the future of seismic data acquisition by purchasing Geospace Technologies' Pioneer ultralight seismic land nodes, in a deal valued at approximately $24 million. This partnership underscores the evolving demands of the energy exploration industry for more efficient, high-quality data collection tools.
The Pioneer nodes, weighing less than 0.5kg, represent a leap forward in seismic survey technology. Designed and manufactured in the USA, these nodes offer a lightweight, autonomous solution that does not compromise on data quality. With the ability to record continuously for up to 50 days and featuring a proprietary 5Hz geophone, the Pioneer nodes are set to enhance the precision and efficiency of seismic surveys.
Rich Kelley, President and CEO of Geospace Technologies, highlighted the significance of the Pioneer nodes, stating, 'We have maintained the data quality output our customers require, while reducing the size and weight of our nodes.' This innovation is expected to provide Dawson Geophysical with a competitive edge in conducting large, high-resolution surveys, as noted by Tony Clark, Dawson’s President and CEO.
The delivery of the Pioneer nodes is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2025, marking a pivotal moment for both companies and the broader energy exploration sector. For more details on the Pioneer nodes, visit https://www.Geospace.com/pioneer.
