DownTown Mystic Releases New EP and AI-Generated Video, Signaling Continued Growth in Sync Licensing

Sha-La Music announced the worldwide release of DownTown Mystic's new single "Somebody's Always Doin' Something 2 Somebody" and the "Mystic Highway" EP, marking significant developments for the independent roots rock artist. The single will be released to US radio on October 7 and streaming services on October 10, while the EP containing six songs will be available worldwide via The Orchard/Sony Music on November 7.

The release features several notable innovations, including the first AI-generated video created by Richard Levinsohn/Rick Lee Vinson Group for DownTown Mystic. The project continues the artist's commitment to high-quality rock 'n' roll in the 21st century, featuring accomplished musicians such as keyboardist Jeff Levine (Joe Cocker, Hall & Oates) on Moog, piano, and organ, along with elite rhythm section members Steve Holley and Paul Page on five of the six tracks.

Guitar work remains central to DownTown Mystic's sound, with contributions from ace guitarists Lance Doss, Bruce Engler, and Justin "JJ" Jordan. The EP includes diverse musical approaches, from southern-edged classic rock on "History" and "Modern Ways" to the rock 'n' roll raga of "Read The Signs," which Bruce Engler co-wrote and sings. Listeners can access the music through various platforms including the single and the full EP.

The release comes during a period of significant growth for DownTown Mystic, whose sync-licensing success has placed music in over 250 TV shows and films. 2025 proved particularly successful with three songs featured in movie soundtracks, including two in "Everything's Going to Be Great" starring Bryan Cranston and Allison Janney, and one in "Sovereign" with Dennis Quaid and Nick Offerman. This sync-licensing achievement, combined with substantial international radio airplay for "The Wish" album, has elevated DownTown Mystic's profile in the competitive music industry.

Looking ahead to 2026, DownTown Mystic plans the "On E Street Remix" project in January, featuring remixes of tracks recorded with Max Weinberg and Garry Tallent, drummer and bassist for Bruce Springsteen's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame E Street Band. The continued collaboration with established musicians and innovative approaches to music distribution and video production demonstrates how independent artists can achieve commercial success through strategic partnerships and adaptation to evolving industry trends.
