DPR Construction Advances on Holy Cross Emergency Department in Deerfield Beach
DPR Construction has commenced interior work on the Holy Cross Health Free-Standing Emergency Department in Deerfield Beach, following the discovery of structural issues that required extensive demolition, aiming to enhance emergency services accessibility in the area.

DPR Construction's South Florida Business Unit has made significant progress on the Holy Cross Health Free-Standing Emergency Department (FSED) in Deerfield Beach, transitioning from exterior completion to interior construction. Located at 340 S Federal Highway, the 25,000-square-foot facility is on track for its spring opening next year, despite unforeseen structural challenges that led to the demolition of most of the existing building.
Project manager Bala Purushothaman highlighted the collaborative effort of over 30 trade partners in overcoming these challenges, ensuring the project remains on schedule and within budget while maintaining an excellent safety record. The FSED will offer comprehensive emergency services, including advanced diagnostic imaging and a fully functional on-site laboratory, designed to reduce patient wait times and provide 24/7 access to emergency care for the Deerfield Beach community and surrounding areas.
Holy Cross Health Chief Nursing Officer Taren O’Brien, MSN, R.N., emphasized the FSED's role in making emergency services more convenient and accessible. This project is part of DPR Construction's broader portfolio in South Florida, which includes two additional FSEDs for Memorial Healthcare Systems, showcasing the firm's expertise in healthcare facility construction.
The Holy Cross FSED represents a significant investment in community health infrastructure, promising to deliver high-quality emergency care with efficiency and compassion. For more information on DPR Construction, visit dpr.com, and for details on Holy Cross Health, visit holy-cross.com.
