Exner Turbidity and Solids Sensors Achieve 3A and EHEDG Hygienic Certifications
Exner turbidity and solids concentration sensors by South Fork Instruments have been certified by 3A Sanitary Standards and EHEDG, meeting stringent hygienic design requirements for the food and beverage industry.

South Fork Instruments has announced that its Exner turbidity and solids concentration sensors have received both 3A Sanitary Standards and European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group (EHEDG) certifications. These certifications confirm the sensors' adherence to the highest hygienic design standards, crucial for food and beverage processing applications where product safety and accurate measurement data are paramount.
John Daly, Technical Director at South Fork Instruments, highlighted the significance of these certifications for the food and beverage industry, stating they allow for real-time process monitoring without sacrificing sanitary requirements. The sensors are designed with features such as electropolished 316L stainless steel construction and a surface finish below 0.8 μm Ra to prevent bacterial adhesion, complete drainability to avoid contamination, and resistance to standard cleaning compounds.
These certifications are particularly beneficial for breweries, dairy processing, and pharmaceutical sterile manufacturing, enabling continuous turbidity monitoring without risking contamination or compromising HACCP protocols. The Exner sensors are now available for customers across the Americas through South Fork Instruments.
