Fifth Annual Sickle Cell Caregiver Summit Focuses on Mental Wellness and Advocacy
The upcoming virtual Sickle Cell Caregiver Summit brings global attention to the critical role of caregivers in managing sickle cell disease while addressing mental health challenges and building advocacy skills.

The Sickle Cell Community Consortium (SC3), in collaboration with Cleverly Changing, LLC, The B Strong Group, and Discovering Moorer2Life, has announced the Fifth Annual Sickle Cell Caregiver Summit, scheduled to take place virtually from November 13–16, 2025. This year's theme, "The Heart of Caregiving: Balancing Mental Wellness, Advocacy, and Legacy," highlights the resilience of caregivers who transform pain into purpose while standing on the front lines of the fight against sickle cell disease.
The summit's importance lies in its focus on addressing the often-overlooked mental health challenges faced by caregivers while providing practical tools for advocacy and emotional resilience. Supported by Title Sponsor Vertex Pharmaceuticals and Platinum Plus Sponsor Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, the event has grown into one of the largest caregiver-led conferences in the sickle cell community. Through corporate sponsorship and community partnerships, the summit amplifies caregiver voices and ensures their experiences remain central to national discussions about sickle cell care.
Elle Cole, founder of Cleverly Changing, LLC, emphasized the summit's significance, stating, "This is more than a conference—it's a lifeline. Each session is designed by caregivers for caregivers, creating a safe space to learn, connect, and heal together." The caregiver-centered approach distinguishes this event from traditional medical conferences, focusing specifically on the needs of those providing daily care and support.
Key programming includes daily mental health and wellness workshops that provide practical tools for emotional resilience and spiritual renewal. Family-centered programming offers tailored discussions for parents, siblings, spouses, and extended family members who share in the caregiving journey. The summit also features entertainment components, including interactive games, prizes, and an exclusive screening of an upcoming sickle cell docuseries by acclaimed filmmaker Janks Morton.
For over a decade, the Sickle Cell Community Consortium has bridged the gap between research and real-life patient experiences. The caregiver summit continues this legacy by connecting global communities, advancing advocacy efforts, and promoting mental wellness within families who live with sickle cell disease daily. Registration for the virtual event is available at https://scdcaregivers.org, making the summit accessible to caregivers worldwide regardless of geographic location or financial constraints.
The collaboration between multiple organizations demonstrates the growing recognition of caregivers' essential role in chronic disease management. By addressing both practical caregiving skills and emotional wellbeing, the summit represents a comprehensive approach to supporting those who provide crucial daily care for individuals living with sickle cell disease.
