Florida Education Institute Hosts Culinary Events to Showcase Student Talent and Build Community Connections

Florida Education Institute is hosting a series of culinary events this week designed to showcase student talent while fostering community engagement through food-centered activities. The initiative demonstrates the institution's commitment to practical learning and community connections.

The first event features a collaboration between FEI's Culinary Arts program and Univision, one of Miami's leading television networks. Students are gaining valuable real-world experience by catering a special studio event, allowing them to demonstrate their skills and creativity to media professionals. This partnership highlights FEI's focus on providing students with industry exposure and practical application of their culinary training.

On Thursday, the institute is organizing a casual pizza gathering on campus, offering complimentary pizza to promote relaxation and camaraderie among students. This event aims to help students connect and unwind between classes, reinforcing the sense of community that FEI emphasizes throughout its educational approach.

The week concludes with an Adult Cooking Workshop – Latin Fiesta Night at Doral Central Park on Friday evening. This hands-on cooking class offers participants an opportunity to learn new culinary techniques while enjoying gourmet dishes with paired drinks. The menu features tostones with avocado crème and mango pico as an appetizer, mojo-marinated skirt steak with yuca mash and chimichurri as the main course, and dulce de leche lava cake for dessert. Tickets are priced at $40 per person through the institution's website at https://www.fei.edu.

Chef Maria Gonzalez, Director of the Culinary Arts program at FEI, emphasized the institution's belief in food's power to bring people together. These events allow students to not only refine their culinary skills but also establish meaningful connections with the broader Miami community, bridging classroom learning with real-world application and community engagement.
