Foodies Care to Honor Jacksonville Volunteers with Legacy of Leaders Awards

Foodies Care, a nonprofit focused on combating hunger and homelessness in Jacksonville, is set to celebrate the contributions of 12 local volunteers at the Legacy of Leaders Awards Ceremony on July 30. The event, taking place at the Jacksonville Golf and Country Club, will not only honor these individuals but also award each of their associated nonprofits a $1,500 stipend, contributing over $115,000 in total donations and marketing grants.

The awards span various categories, including the Gary Chartrand Lifetime Service Award and the Barbara Westrick Heart of Service Award, highlighting the diverse ways volunteers impact the community. Following the ceremony, Foodies Care will host a series of food-centered fundraising events, such as Bourbon & Smoke and Irish Tap & Table, designed to engage the community in the fight against hunger and homelessness.

Founded by Mike White in 2014, Foodies Care has grown from a musical production about homelessness to a vital supporter of local nonprofits like Feeding Northeast Florida and Mission House. Anne Ackerson, president of Foodies Care, emphasizes the dual purpose of their events: to entertain and to foster real change.
