Former collegiate athletic training coaches Hans and Jen Straub have opened a D1 Training facility in Bellaire, bringing professional-level sports science training to the community with implications for youth athletic development and franchise expansion.

D1 Training, a fitness concept utilizing athletic-based training principles, has opened a new location in Bellaire at 5300 N. Braeswood Blvd, Suite 44. The facility employs a sports-science backed training regimen led by certified trainers to help people of all ages achieve their sport and fitness goals. Hans and Jen Straub, both with extensive collegiate athletic training backgrounds, have joined the growing roster of D1 franchisees that includes former professional athletes like NBA star Chris Paul and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow.
Hans Straub brings over 20 years of collegiate strength and conditioning experience from coaching positions at the University of San Diego, University of Washington, and Stanford University, where he served as the top assistant Sports Performance coach for football and later as Director of Olympic Sports Performance. His career also includes work at the University of South Florida and Rice University, where he was head of strength and conditioning for seven years. Throughout his career, Hans has trained 65 NFL players including six first-round picks and 50 professional baseball players with five first-round selections, along with 10 Olympians including gold medalist Simone Manuel.

The couple was drawn to D1 because it operates like a family, with Jen stating they will help youth athletes grow, develop, and reach their full potential whether they aspire to earn scholarships or simply want to improve.
