Freeport's First Barstool Golf Fundraiser Raises $2,360 for Animal Welfare

Three Freeport businesses collaborated to host the city's inaugural Barstool Golf fundraising event, generating $2,360 for Friends Forever Humane Society. The innovative mini golf tournament transformed nine local venues into custom golf holes, drawing nearly 250 participants – significantly exceeding organizers' initial expectations of 100 attendees.

The event, organized by Communication and Design Inc., The Freeport Club, and MAS Roofing, Siding and Decking Inc., engaged the community through a unique fundraising approach. Participants formed teams of four and navigated through local establishments, including bars and clubs, completing a city-wide miniature golf course.

Each team paid a $40 registration fee, with all proceeds directly supporting the local animal welfare organization. The fundraiser concluded with an awards ceremony and after-party at The Freeport Club, providing participants an opportunity to celebrate their efforts.

Representatives from the organizing businesses expressed enthusiasm about the event's success. Ryan Lester from Communication and Design Inc. noted the overwhelming community response, while Mike Stingley from MAS Roofing highlighted the remarkable enthusiasm from participants and venues.

Organizers have already announced plans to make Barstool Golf an annual tradition in Freeport, with goals of increasing participation and fundraising in future years. The event not only raised crucial funds for animal welfare but also demonstrated the power of creative community collaboration.
