The NYCxDesign Festival 2025 concluded its celebrated 'Fractured Horizons: The Future of Heritage & Innovation' exhibition, drawing over 50,000 online and onsite visitors from around the world. The landmark international summit brought together designers, artists, and technology pioneers to explore the convergence of cultural heritage and emerging technologies.
Curated by a distinguished panel including Dominic Terlizzi, Qin Zhao, Jiayuan Wang, and Yiwei Lin, the exhibition featured 100 works by 72 artists representing 9 countries. The selected pieces were categorized into Renowned Artists, Professional Artists, and New Talent segments, showcasing a diverse range of creative perspectives.
The exhibition emerged from a global open call that received over 500 submissions from 21 countries, ultimately presenting works spanning AI-generated art, interactive installations, sustainable design, and immersive scenography. By reimagining artistic traditions in the digital age, the event reflected the expanding global landscape of creative expression, with a particular emphasis on Chinese cultural identity and innovation.
Key themes explored included urban transformation, technological intervention in artistic practices, and cross-cultural dialogue. Notable works like Chenlin Cai's 'Moon Gaze' and Leonard Yang's 'Asian Bleeding Heart' exemplified the exhibition's commitment to challenging traditional artistic boundaries and exploring complex cultural narratives.
