Global Livestream Event to Mark World Rainforest Day with 'Planet Walkers'
Rainforest Partnership's 'Planet Walkers' livestream on June 22 aims to unite millions worldwide in a call to action for rainforest conservation, featuring guided walks from biodiversity hotspots and raising awareness and funds for protection efforts.

Rainforest Partnership is set to host a global livestream event titled 'Planet Walkers: A Global Livestream and Call to Breathe With the Forest' on June 22, coinciding with World Rainforest Day. This innovative event will broadcast guided forest walks from various biodiversity hotspots around the globe, including the Amazon, Kenya, and Southeast Asia, among others. Participants are encouraged to join in solidarity by walking in their local communities or engaging online, highlighting the critical role rainforests play in our planet's health.
The event will feature contributions from Indigenous leaders, scientists, and cultural storytellers, offering a unique blend of slow cinematography, natural sounds, and personal narratives to create a multisensory experience. Available for worldwide viewing at www.worldrainforestday.org, the livestream seeks to transform World Rainforest Day from a symbolic observance into a global movement for ecological solidarity.
Niyanta Spelman, CEO of Rainforest Partnership, emphasized the event's significance, stating, 'When we walk with the forest, we walk for our future. Every step is a statement.' The 2025 campaign aims to mobilize one million participants, generate over 100 million digital impressions, and raise real-time funds for rainforest protection through acre pledges and donations. Additionally, the initiative offers corporate social responsibility and environmental, social, and governance engagement opportunities for sponsors.
Rainforest Partnership, in collaboration with ZoeTerra and other partners, is working to expand the campaign's reach and impact. World Rainforest Day, observed annually on June 22, underscores the vital importance of rainforests in regulating global rainfall, mitigating climate change, and supporting biodiversity. With more than one billion people relying on these ecosystems for essentials like clean water, food, and medicine, the 'Planet Walkers' event represents a critical step forward in global conservation efforts.
