Global Turbine Asia Forges Strategic Partnerships to Strengthen Malaysia's Aerospace Ecosystem

Global Turbine Asia Sdn. Bhd., a Malaysian engine maintenance, repair and overhaul provider, has entered into strategic partnerships with Airbus Defence and Space, Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia, and Perbadanan Hal Ehwal Bekas Angkatan Tentera through exchanged memoranda of understanding and a note of understanding. The agreements, witnessed by Malaysia's Minister of Defence, signify a concerted effort to bolster the aerospace and defense ecosystem through commercial cooperation, talent development, and long-term capability building.

The MoU with Airbus Defence and Space focuses on evaluating opportunities to develop Malaysia's military aircraft MRO capabilities and assessing GTA as a potential beneficiary under an Industrial Collaboration Programme. This initiative aims to advance local aerospace self-reliance, facilitate knowledge and capability transfer, and integrate supply chains, pending necessary approvals. Such collaboration could significantly enhance Malaysia's strategic autonomy in defense maintenance.

Through its agreement with Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia, GTA seeks to strengthen industry-academia ties in research, innovation, and talent development. Potential areas of cooperation include joint research and development projects, training and postgraduate pathways, technical advisory services, and the establishment of workshops and centers of expertise. These initiatives, subject to separate agreements, are designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical industry needs.

The note of understanding with Perbadanan Hal Ehwal Bekas Angkatan Tentera supports the career transition of retiring Malaysian Armed Forces personnel and veterans by providing industrial training, workplace exposure, and potential employment opportunities. The collaboration includes job-skills alignment, programme monitoring, and joint initiatives aimed at enhancing the employability and well-being of veterans, addressing both social and economic dimensions of post-service life.

Dato' Nonee Ashirin Dato Mohd Radzi, Executive Chairman of Global Turbine Asia, stated that these agreements mark an important step in strengthening GTA's role within the aerospace and defense ecosystem, positioning the company not only as an engine support provider but as a long-term partner in capability development and talent cultivation. She emphasized that these partnerships reflect a commitment to building a stronger, more resilient, and future-ready platform for the industry.
