Greenspring Retirement Community Emphasizes Pressure-Free Exploration for Prospective Residents

When researching retirement communities, firsthand experience proves invaluable according to recent insights from Greenspring, an Erickson Senior Living community in Springfield, Virginia. The community offers numerous opportunities for prospective residents to explore campus life at their own pace through personalized appointments, informational events, and group tours.

Mary Ann Munn, who moved to Greenspring in June after extensive research, emphasized the importance of taking advantage of all available opportunities. "I made sure to attend all the events that were offered to me, including seminars and open houses," Munn recalled. "I asked a lot of questions. The sales team answered all my calls and emails. And, at no time did I ever feel pressured to make a decision."

Sales Director Franklin Funes explained the community's philosophy: "We want to give people all the information they need to help them determine whether Greenspring is the right fit for them. That's the most important thing!" This approach reflects a broader trend in senior living communities prioritizing informed decision-making over rushed commitments.

For Munn, the exploration process began with evaluating multiple communities despite Greenspring's convenient location just five minutes from her son's family. Her criteria included finding a safe and secure community with pool access for water aerobics and a home featuring outdoor space. During her initial visit with Sales Counselor Arzo Haider, Munn appreciated the personalized approach. "Arzo is lovely. She asked questions that helped her learn about me, so she could best direct her efforts," Munn noted.

What distinguished Greenspring for Munn was its college campus atmosphere compared to high-rise alternatives and the presence of on-site medical professionals. After determining Greenspring met her requirements, Munn joined the Priority List, which offers members exclusive benefits including event invitations and moving support. The educational events proved particularly valuable. "When I came to seminars, I appreciated hearing other people's questions, because their questions would often spark a question in my own head," Munn explained.

The Parade of Homes event allowed Munn to explore various residence options thoroughly. "Seeing as many floor plans as possible was very helpful, as was talking to people who lived in the homes," she said. Regular campus visits also provided opportunities to interact with current residents, who consistently demonstrated satisfaction with community life.

Munn further enhanced her understanding through the Live the Life program, available exclusively to Priority List members. This overnight stay in a furnished guest suite included full access to amenities, club meetings, on-campus dining, and resident interactions. During her stay with a friend, Munn participated in a Latin dance class, joined a sing-along with the Troubadours, and shared meals with residents. "It was a very good experience. It's like when you want to buy a new car and you go out for a test-drive," she compared.

Now settled as a resident, Munn enjoys water aerobics classes and social dinners with neighbors. Her advice to others considering senior living communities emphasizes direct experience: "My biggest piece of advice is to come for a visit. It's the best first step while conducting your research. Also, talk to as many people as you can, both residents and staff. Everyone is so friendly." She added, "It's so important to move when you are able to enjoy all there is to do here. Life is very good!" For more information about exploring Greenspring's lifestyle options, visit https://www.ericksonseniorliving.com.
