Harvard Federal Credit Union Expands Community Banking Access with New Mission Hill Branch Opening
Harvard Federal Credit Union's new Mission Hill branch opening and $5,000 donation to Mission Hill Main Streets marks its first expansion beyond Harvard University affiliates in 86 years, enhancing financial accessibility for neighborhood residents and businesses.

Harvard Federal Credit Union celebrated the opening of its newest branch at One Brigham Circle in Boston's Mission Hill neighborhood on August 12, 2025, marking a significant expansion of its community banking services. The grand opening event featured a ribbon cutting ceremony and remarks from credit union leadership and local officials, attended by over seventy-five guests who enjoyed refreshments from Mission Hill businesses and learned about financial incentives available through September 30, 2025.
The branch opening represents a historic milestone for the 86-year-old institution, as it marks the first time Harvard Federal Credit Union can serve eligible residents outside of the Harvard University network due to its new federal charter. This expansion significantly broadens access to financial services for Mission Hill residents and local businesses who previously lacked direct access to the credit union's products and educational resources.
CEO Craig Leonard emphasized the strategic importance of the new location, stating, "Our newest branch, located at the corner of Mission Hill and Longwood, reinforces our commitment to empower our members to make a positive impact in their lives and communities. This new space will allow us to better serve the Longwood hospitals and provide neighborhood residents with the tools, resources and education to fit their financial needs." The branch at 1614 Tremont Street positions the credit union to better serve healthcare providers in the Longwood Medical Area while expanding services to the surrounding community.
During the opening celebration, Harvard Federal Credit Union made a $5,000 donation to Mission Hill Main Streets, a non-profit organization that works with local businesses, residents and community organizations to revitalize the local shopping district. Courtney Wright, Executive Director of Mission Hill Main Streets, welcomed the credit union's presence, noting that "Harvard Federal Credit Union shares those same core values and principles, and it's comforting to know that residents and business owners will have even more convenient and accessible banking options, and in-person access to knowledgeable staff that can help them best navigate their financial journey."
The expansion includes various opportunities for community members to earn up to $300 through incentive-based specials and promotions, with full terms and conditions available at https://harvardfcu.org/new-branch-at-lma/. Harvard Federal Credit Union offers an array of financial products and services designed to help members navigate life's milestones, with a portion of profits reinvested into community initiatives, financial education programs and charitable endeavors through their website at https://www.harvardfcu.org.
