Hong Kong Conference to Address Supply Chain Shifts, Green Energy and Emerging Markets

The 15th Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference (ALMAC) will convene on November 17-18 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, bringing together industry leaders to address critical shifts in global trade patterns. Under the theme "Collaboration and Growth in the New Trade Landscape," the conference aligns with national development strategies to strengthen Hong Kong's position as an international shipping and aviation hub.

Patrick Lau, Deputy Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), emphasized the conference's strategic importance. "Hong Kong's status as an international shipping centre is supported by recommendations in the 15th Five-Year Plan. The HKTDC is committed to promoting the advantages of the city's 'Eight Centres', advancing the development of high-value supply chain services and encouraging businesses to leverage our platforms to explore global opportunities," Lau stated.

The conference will focus on three major industry trends transforming global logistics: supply chain diversification in emerging markets, sustainability and green energy transitions, and technological innovation. These discussions come at a critical time as companies navigate challenges from geopolitical tensions, tariff changes, extreme weather events, and ongoing supply chain disruptions while meeting demands for digital transformation and environmental responsibility.

A significant addition to this year's program includes dedicated sessions on the Middle East and Central Asia markets. The thematic session "Tapping the Middle East: Logistics, Innovation & Trade Potentials" will feature senior executives from Etihad Airways, GEODIS, Iron Mountain, DP World Logistics, and Qatar Free Zones Authority analyzing how the region is reshaping global trade dynamics. Similarly, the "Unlocking Central Asia: The Next Trade and Logistics Frontier" session will examine strategies for navigating regulatory environments and infrastructure limitations while leveraging new trade routes across Eurasia.

Sustainability takes center stage with a special "Green Energy Forum: Fuels, Freight, and the Road to Net Zero" session aligning with Hong Kong's policy goals of becoming a green maritime fuel bunkering center. Speakers from Asyad Group, Qair Group, DNV Energy Systems, and Kunlun Energy Company Limited will explore pathways for developing green methanol, green ammonia, and hydrogen fuels to achieve low-carbon shipping operations.

Technological innovation features prominently with sessions on drone technology and the low-altitude economy. The conference will debut a Low-Altitude Economy Zone showcasing companies participating in Hong Kong's regulatory sandbox pilot projects, including demonstrations of drones, unmanned aerial vehicles, and urban air mobility applications. This initiative supports the HKSAR Government's focus on developing Hong Kong as an Asia-Pacific hub for innovative low-altitude applications.

The event will host over 90 exhibitors across dedicated zones for aviation, low-altitude economy, logistics technology, supply chain management, and maritime services. First-time exhibitors include SF Express, Greater Bay Airlines, YunExpress, ZIM, and PayCargo, alongside returning participants like Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited and Modern Terminals Limited. The exhibition will feature the Logtech Salon showcasing AI, big data, and cloud technologies applicable to the logistics industry.

Beyond the main conference program, ALMAC will feature approximately 20 thematic forums and workshops covering air freight, shipping, supply chain management, and logistics. Representatives from leading international brands including Procter & Gamble, HP, and Reckitt will share strategies for integrating innovation across technology, talent, and processes to drive sustainable transformation.

The conference will also host the Hong Kong's NextGen Logistician Awards Presentation Ceremony, recognizing young talents who have demonstrated significant achievements in innovative, smart, and green logistics. This initiative supports the industry's need for fresh talent and aligns with the Transport and Logistics Bureau's Action Plan on Modern Logistics Development.

With expected participation from 2,300 attendees across 40 countries and regions, ALMAC 2025 represents a critical platform for addressing the complex challenges and opportunities facing global supply chains. The conference's comprehensive programming reflects the industry's urgent need to adapt to changing trade patterns while advancing sustainability and technological innovation goals.
