Hong Kong Electronics Fairs Attract 60,000 Buyers as AI and Robotics Take Center Stage
The recent Hong Kong electronics fairs attracted significant global participation and revealed growing industry adoption of generative AI technologies, highlighting Hong Kong's expanding role as a bridge for international electronics trade and innovation.

The 45th Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) and the 28th electronicAsia concluded with approximately 60,000 buyers from 142 countries and regions participating in the four-day events. The concurrent fairs, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and MMI Asia Pte Ltd, demonstrated increased buyer attendance from Spain, Japan, Brazil and Australia compared to the previous year, reinforcing Hong Kong's position as a crucial international sourcing platform for the electronics industry.
This year's events focused on three key areas: AI and Robotics Technology, Digital Entertainment, and the Silver Economy, aligning with Hong Kong's policy direction to promote artificial intelligence as a core development industry. Jenny Koo, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC, emphasized that amid global trade instability, the fairs serve as vital platforms for business transformation and market exploration. "As a stage for showcasing the latest electronic products and innovations, the Autumn Electronics Fair and electronicAsia serve as important platforms for exhibitors to connect and explore collaborations," Koo stated.
An independent survey commissioned by the HKTDC revealed significant industry trends, with 44% of respondents exploring or integrating Generative AI technology. The survey of 1,092 buyers and exhibitors showed that product design and development (60%), customer service and support (40%), and marketing and advertising (35%) represent the primary applications for this emerging technology. Additionally, 51% of respondents anticipate sales growth in the next 12 to 24 months, with particularly optimistic outlooks for the Middle East (77%), Korea (70%), India (69%) and ASEAN countries (69%).
The fairs attracted more than 3,200 exhibitors from 20 countries and regions, with the HKTDC organizing 120 buyer delegations from 61 countries. Notable participants included global corporations such as Mondial from Brazil, Reichelt Elektronik GmbH from Germany, and Dewalt Mobile Solutions from the United States. The events featured robotics products from leading mainland enterprises including Deep Robotics, BrainCo, DIGIT, PaXini and LimX, with the new RoboPark activity zone hosting over 30 live robot demonstrations.
Several companies reported significant business outcomes from their participation. Xiangru Nie, Co-founder of PaXini Technology, noted that through the fair, the company secured procurement intentions with robotics companies from Southeast Asian countries and attracted attention from high-end manufacturing sectors in Europe and the United States. "This engagement with dozens of high-quality potential clients had led to the total value of intended orders expected to exceed tens of millions of renminbi – far ahead of my initial expectations," Nie said. The company is leveraging Hong Kong's international network to accelerate technology implementation in areas such as high-end manufacturing in Europe and the United States, and smart services in Southeast Asia.
Elijah Yu, International Sales Manager of Shanghai Hi-dolphin Robot Technology Co., Ltd, reported receiving an onsite order for 10 COFE+ Robot Coffee Kiosks totaling US$450,000 from a Turkish client, along with establishing 200 promising leads from buyers in Thailand, the United States and other regions. International exhibitors also found value in the Hong Kong platform, with Michael Obrecht, Director of Canadian company Siborg Systems Inc, noting connections with potential buyers from at least eight different countries and regions.
Global buyers demonstrated strong interest in emerging technologies, with Hanafiah Yussof, Founder & CEO of Malaysian service robotics company Robopreneur Sdn. Bhd., expecting to spend around US$2 million annually after meeting suppliers from the mainland, Europe and Japan. The fairs hosted more than 100 activities, forums and showcases, including the 10th Symposium on Innovation and Technology and seminars on e-commerce trends, while the Click2Match smart business matching platform under the EXHIBITION+ hybrid model continues to facilitate online meetings until October 23.
