H+Trace Leverages AI and Automation to Revolutionize Healthcare Logistics

Javier Cuello, the founder of H+Trace, has embarked on a mission to transform healthcare logistics by harnessing the power of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation. With a unique background that spans live audio engineering for global music icons to electronic engineering and public sector innovation, Cuello is applying cross-disciplinary insights to address one of healthcare's most overlooked challenges: the preanalytical phase of lab diagnostics.

Cuello's journey into healthcare logistics was sparked by a personal encounter with a diagnostic error, leading him to discover the significant role that temperature excursions and outdated traceability systems play in lab errors. This realization prompted the development of H+Trace's Contactless MultiSense platform, which aims to automate and bring reliability to the chaotic preanalytical phase, where two-thirds of lab errors occur.

By developing both the hardware and software in-house, H+Trace ensures a seamless integration that is both user-friendly and adaptable to specific customer needs. The platform's predictive analytics and AI capabilities are central to its success, enabling real-time detection and prevention of cargo damage through the analysis of key data points such as temperature, unauthorized package openings, and mishandling.

With over 11 million samples traced to date, H+Trace has uncovered valuable clinical and operational insights, leading to the evolution of its product. The introduction of Agentic AI represents a bold step towards autonomous lab intelligence, offering features like proactive error detection and automated recommendations for follow-up tests.

As H+Trace prepares for U.S. expansion, the focus shifts to at-home blood draws, with the development of smart packaging that passively self-cools or freezes. This innovation not only promises higher quality and reliability but also a significant reduction in turnaround time, marking another milestone in Cuello's quest to revolutionize healthcare logistics through technology.
