Jeep Babes Enthusiast Club Partners with HAVEN to Combat Rising Domestic Violence Lethality
The Jeep Babes Enthusiast Club Michigan Chapter is donating collected items and funds to HAVEN during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, addressing the concerning trend of increased fatalities despite declining reported incidents in Michigan.

The Jeep Babes Enthusiast Club Michigan Chapter is mobilizing its community to support HAVEN, Michigan's largest shelter and advocacy agency for survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual assault. On Sunday, October 26, 2025, the club will gather at Mugs Coffee & Grub in White Lake from 9:00 AM to Noon to collect donations including personal hygiene products, laundry baskets, and Meijer gift cards in an 18-foot trailer destined for HAVEN's Pontiac headquarters.
At noon, a 50-vehicle convoy of Jeep Babes members will proceed to HAVEN to present the collected items alongside financial contributions raised through their annual Show and Shine charity event held at Birch Run Speedway on September 19. All proceeds from the automotive showcase are being donated to support HAVEN's comprehensive services, which extend to men, women, children, and even their pets regardless of location.
The timing of this community initiative holds particular significance as October marks Domestic Violence Awareness Month. While overall reported domestic violence incidents in Michigan have declined in recent years, the cases have become increasingly lethal according to Michigan State Police data. The state recorded 68,000 intimate partner violence incidents in 2023, continuing a troubling pattern where reports decreased between 2010 and 2022 while fatalities from these incidents rose substantially.
Lifetime prevalence rates reveal that a significant portion of Michigan's adult population has experienced intimate partner violence, with women disproportionately affected. Members of the LGBTQ+ community also report high levels of IPV, highlighting the broad societal impact of this issue. The partnership between the automotive enthusiast group and the advocacy organization demonstrates how community networks can mobilize resources to address critical social challenges.
HAVEN provides essential services through its https://haven-oakland.org/ platform, while the Jeep Babes Enthusiast Club coordinates its activities via https://jbmichigan.com/. This collaboration between a recreational automotive community and a social service agency represents an innovative approach to addressing the complex challenge of domestic violence, particularly as incidents become more deadly despite decreasing in frequency.
