The Jewish Women’s Giving Foundation (JWGF), a program of The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore, has recently awarded grants to seven organizations dedicated to supporting women and girls in Baltimore and Israel. These grants aim to address a range of critical issues, including access to education, employment, housing insecurity, and sexual exploitation, underscoring the foundation's commitment to fostering positive change through collective philanthropy.

Julie Newman, outgoing chair of JWGF, noted the record number of grant requests this year, reflecting both the significant work being done and the substantial need that remains. Since its inception 22 years ago, JWGF has granted over $2.5 million to initiatives that tackle urgent issues affecting women and girls locally and globally.

This year's grantees include organizations like the American Friends of Magen David Adom, which supports premature and orphaned babies through its National Human Milk Bank, and the Baltimore Abortion Fund, which provides financial and logistical support for abortion care. Other recipients focus on combating period poverty among students, offering college education to incarcerated women, fighting sexual assault, supporting young women overcoming hardships, and aiding women reentering society after incarceration.

The work of these organizations not only addresses immediate needs but also aims to create long-term solutions for the challenges faced by women and girls. By supporting such diverse and impactful programs, JWGF continues to play a crucial role in empowering women and girls, demonstrating the power of collective action in making a tangible difference in communities both in Baltimore and Israel.
