Juno Maps Wins RISE Riverine Community Resilience Challenge for Flood Risk Platform

Juno Maps, a leading geospatial technology company, has been named a winner of the RISE Riverine Community Resilience Challenge II, an international competition focused on addressing growing flood risks in inland communities across western Virginia. The award recognizes Smart Site Plan, Juno Maps' cloud-based flagship platform designed to help local governments prepare for, respond to, and recover from flood events.

The platform's accessibility features allow municipal teams, regardless of technical background, to visualize flood risk, assess vulnerable infrastructure, and collaborate in real-time across departments. This capability addresses a critical gap in many communities where technical expertise may be limited but flood risks continue to escalate. Dustin Rauch, President & CEO of Juno Maps, emphasized the importance of the recognition, stating that the company is excited to partner with Virginia riverine communities and offer a solution with potential to save lives and protect infrastructure.

As a Challenge winner, Juno Maps will pilot Smart Site Plan in multiple western Virginia municipalities, demonstrating how intuitive geospatial tools can support data-driven resilience planning in high-risk areas. Paul Robinson, Executive Director of RISE, highlighted the urgency of the solution, noting that Juno Maps gives communities the tools to see and understand their flood risk before disaster strikes. The platform provides local governments with an immediate, easy-to-use method to understand and respond to risk, bringing clarity and confidence to flood-prone inland Virginia communities.

The RISE Riverine Community Resilience Challenge II, funded by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development, supports scalable solutions and innovations that strengthen long-term recovery, improve local decision-making, and build resilience to freshwater flooding. Juno Maps was selected for its potential to deliver measurable, real-world impact in high-risk communities. The competition represents part of RISE's broader mission to identify, support, and scale solutions to resilience-related risks facing flood-prone communities, with the organization having awarded more than $8 million to innovative technologies through its nationally recognized Innovation Challenge model.
