Keep A Breast Foundation Awards $100,000 to Support BIPOC Breast Cancer Survivors

The Keep A Breast Foundation has awarded $100,000 in micro-grants to 200 breast cancer patients and survivors of color, continuing its commitment to addressing racial disparities in healthcare support. Partnering with Curvy Couture and Smart&Sexy, the Give Back Grant program has now distributed over $700,000 to more than 1,000 individuals since its inception in 2020.

The grants provide financial relief for essential expenses such as transportation, medical bills, childcare, and groceries. Recipients are selected through a community-centered review process, with applicants required to self-identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC) and reside in the United States.

Founder Shaney Jo Darden emphasized the program's significance, noting that small acts of financial support can create meaningful change in survivors' lives. The initiative highlights the disproportionate impact of breast cancer on communities of color and aims to provide tangible assistance during challenging times.

Corporate partners like Smart&Sexy and Curvy Couture have been instrumental in sustaining the program, demonstrating a commitment to health equity and community support. Program Manager Marquita Goodluck, a past grant recipient herself, expressed the profound impact of providing direct assistance to BIPOC breast cancer survivors.

By focusing on underserved populations, the Give Back Grant program represents a targeted approach to addressing systemic healthcare disparities and providing critical support where it is most needed.
