Korean Artist BDKim Launches APEC NFT Collection with On-Chain Digital Artworks

Korean artist BDKim (Kim Dae-Yong) has announced a special project celebrating world peace and APEC 2025 through his official website at https://www.Daum.ai. The initiative comes as the artist resumes his creative activities following the suspension of work during South Korea's period of martial law that began in December 2024.

The project features 21 NFT video artworks titled "Dancing Flags of Peace" that reinterpret the national flags of APEC member economies. Each five-second video composition expresses the harmony of Yin and Yang energies, with the collection dedicated to APEC leaders and their citizens. The digital artworks represent a significant technological advancement in the NFT space, as they do not rely on external URL links but instead have the digital assets directly uploaded and permanently preserved on-chain.

The NFTs utilize third-generation Proof-of-Work blockchain technology developed by Artifriends Co., Ltd. over seven years. This fully decentralized blockchain technology, known as SASEUL PoW Chain, has been recognized for its technological integrity through its listing on the BitMart exchange at https://www.bitmart.com and is preparing for a hard fork. The approach addresses concerns raised by technology leaders like Elon Musk, who emphasized on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast that NFTs depending on off-chain URLs are inherently vulnerable.

BDKim's project is part of his broader "Art on the Move" nationwide tour, which features a 1.2-ton wing-body truck transformed into a mobile gallery that has been touring South Korea since October 3. The journey will culminate in Gyeongju, where APEC leaders will gather, with Kim planning to unveil two 2.5-meter original canvases, the truck installation, and dozens of video and NFT artworks at the Mojeon Stone Brick Pagoda at Bunhwangsa Temple.

In addition to the NFT dedication works, three supplementary video versions have already been delivered to the embassies of all 21 APEC member economies, accompanied by official invitations to national leaders and relevant officials. Kim describes "Beyond the Whole World" and "Dancing Flags of Peace" as embodying the energy of peace and the origins of primordial art for the future spiritual era, representing a cultural legacy for generations to come.

The artist's future plans include presenting the complete five-piece set of "Beyond the Whole World" at Mount Baekdu in North Korea, together with artists from across the world. This peace-themed international exhibition has already drawn attention within the global art community, with North Korea-related media outlets previously reporting on Kim's intentions for the Mount Baekdu exhibition. As the contemporary art world faces stagnation, BDKim's artistic initiatives represent a potential new direction for digital art and international cultural diplomacy.
