LIXTE Biotechnology Advances LB-100 Pipeline and Expands Proton Therapy Operations

LIXTE Biotechnology Holdings (NASDAQ: LIXT) has filed its first-quarter 2026 Form 10-Q, detailing continued advancement of its lead oncology candidate LB-100 and expansion at its recently acquired subsidiary Liora Technologies Europe. The company highlighted favorable safety findings from its ovarian cancer trial combining LB-100 with immunotherapy, which has prompted expansion of the study.

LB-100 is a first-in-class clinical PP2A inhibitor that has demonstrated tolerability in cancer patients at doses associated with anti-cancer activity. Based on published preclinical data, LB-100 has the potential to significantly enhance chemotherapies and immunotherapies and improve outcomes for patients with cancer. It is part of a pioneering effort in an entirely new field of cancer biology – activation lethality – that is advancing a new treatment paradigm.

Proof-of-concept clinical trials are currently in progress for Ovarian Clear Cell Carcinoma, Metastatic Colon Cancer, and Advanced Soft Tissue Sarcoma. The company’s novel approach is covered by a comprehensive patent portfolio. LIXTE is a clinical-stage pharmaceutical and med-tech company focused on new targets for cancer drug development and developing and commercializing cancer therapies.

Through its wholly owned subsidiary Liora Technologies Europe Ltd., LIXTE is also pioneering the development of electronically controlled proton therapy systems for treating tumors. Liora’s proprietary flagship technology, the LiGHT System, is believed to provide significant advantages over currently available technologies for treating tumors with proton therapy. The subsidiary has shown continued growth, supporting LIXTE’s broader strategic expansion to strengthen its oncology pipeline and treatment development capabilities.

LIXTE’s first-quarter report underscores the company’s dual focus: advancing LB-100 through clinical development while building out its proton therapy platform. The expansion of the ovarian cancer trial following favorable safety data marks a key milestone, as the combination of LB-100 with immunotherapy could address significant unmet needs in ovarian clear cell carcinoma. Meanwhile, growth at Liora Technologies positions the company to compete in the proton therapy market, which offers potential advantages over conventional radiation treatments.
