Lowe’s Home Improvement Launches in Maricopa, Signaling Growth in Arizona's Fast-Growing Community
The opening of Lowe’s at South Bridge Marketplace and the planned expansion with ALDI highlights Maricopa's rapid development and the increasing demand for retail and services in the area.

The recent opening of a 130,000-square-foot Lowe’s Home Improvement store at South Bridge Marketplace in Maricopa marks a significant milestone in the area's development, underscoring the city's rapid growth and the escalating demand for retail and services. Thompson Thrift, the real estate company behind the development, has announced plans to commence construction on a 54,000-square-foot second phase of the marketplace, anchored by ALDI, later this year. This expansion reflects the vibrant economic activity and the strategic importance of Maricopa as a burgeoning hub between Phoenix and Tucson.
Dan Sink, president and chief financial officer of Thompson Thrift, emphasized the strong partnership with the city of Maricopa, which has been instrumental in bringing essential amenities and services to one of Arizona's fastest-growing communities. Located at a prime intersection witnessing nearly 70,000 vehicles daily, South Bridge Marketplace is poised to become a key retail destination. With ALDI having submitted a building permit and leases signed by notable tenants like Einstein Bros. Bagels and Club Pilates, the marketplace is rapidly filling up, with negotiations underway for 70% of the remaining space.
Ashlee Boyd, managing partner for Thompson Thrift Commercial, highlighted Maricopa's appeal as a high-growth market with robust tenant demand from both national and regional operators. The city's pro-business environment and collaborative leadership have made it an attractive location for investment, further evidenced by Thompson Thrift's active development portfolio across Arizona. Projects such as the Elliot Tech Center in Mesa and The Gilmore in Gilbert underscore the company's commitment to fostering quality developments in high-growth markets.
Maricopa's remarkable growth over the past two decades has been driven by its strategic location and the increasing population, creating a pressing need for high-quality services and amenities. The opening of Lowe’s and the upcoming ALDI store at South Bridge Marketplace are testament to the city's dynamic evolution and its status as a magnet for respected national brands and long-term investment. Thompson Thrift's ongoing projects across Arizona further highlight the state's appeal as a hotspot for commercial and multifamily development, promising to meet the needs of its expanding communities through thoughtful, long-term planning.
