Major Hong Kong Trade Fairs Attract 62,000 Global Buyers as AI and Smart Lighting Drive Industry Growth
Recent Hong Kong trade fairs for lighting and environmental technologies attracted significant global participation, highlighting growing industry optimism driven by AI integration and smart city development while facilitating substantial international business deals.

The recent convergence of three major trade exhibitions in Hong Kong demonstrated robust global demand for lighting and environmental technologies, attracting approximately 62,000 buyers from 141 countries and regions. The 27th Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition), the 10th Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo, and the 20th Eco Expo Asia collectively showcased how technological innovation and sustainability are reshaping global markets.
Industry optimism was evident in an independent survey of over 730 exhibitors and buyers, with 61% expecting sales growth over the next 12-24 months. The survey identified artificial intelligence (57%), smart city development (40%), and technological advancement (36%) as key growth drivers for the lighting industry. Respondents showed particular confidence in markets across ASEAN countries (71%), India (70%), and the Middle East (70%).
The lighting fairs featured significant technological innovations, with the Hall of Connected Lighting serving as a focal point featuring approximately 70 leading global brands. Dutch company Signify unveiled its latest product in Asia – VitaUp Vitamin D3 Modules by Philips – while connecting with over 100 potential buyers from multiple countries. The company anticipates generating orders worth between €1-2 million from the event.
Artificial intelligence integration proved particularly impactful, with Bweetech Electronics Technology confirming an onsite order worth RMB 8 million with a Thai buyer, doubling their sales from the previous year's fair. The company's AI-powered lighting system allows users to verbally express their intent, with the technology automatically generating ideal lighting effects tailored to specific scenes.
The concurrent Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo supported smart city development through diverse outdoor commercial and industrial lighting solutions. Ningbo Freelux Lighting Appliance reported meeting new buyers from Africa, Europe, the Middle East, South America, and Southeast Asia, with expectations of generating $2-3 million in orders. The company's CEO noted particular interest from buyers in Argentina and Poland for their street lighting products.
Eco Expo Asia, celebrating its 20th edition under the theme 'Green Innovations for Carbon Neutrality,' provided substantial business opportunities for environmental technology companies. Infore Enviro's Executive Vice President reported engaging with over 35 government representatives from various regions and expects overseas revenue growth to exceed 200% for the full year. The company identified particular interest from UAE officials in their waste collection vehicles and road sweeping equipment.
Local startups also benefited significantly from the exhibitions. Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation reported generating numerous leads, with six out of ten exhibiting companies identifying potential buyers and expecting orders to reach approximately HK$15 million. The exhibitions facilitated cross-border partnerships, including a potential $3-5 million hydrogen storage partnership between a Hungarian buyer and a mainland Chinese exhibitor.
