Mothers’ Milk Bank California Introduces Flexible Donation Options to Support Medically Fragile Babies

Mothers’ Milk Bank California is addressing the seasonal dip in breast milk donations by introducing flexible pick-up services and Saturday screening appointments from June 21 through August 15, 2025. This initiative aims to make it easier for lactating parents in San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Alameda Counties to donate milk, ensuring a steady supply for medically fragile babies who rely on it for survival.

The new services include contactless milk pick-ups from donors' homes Monday through Friday and Saturday screening appointments for potential donors unable to participate during regular business hours. These measures are designed to accommodate the busy summer schedules of donors, making the donation process as convenient as possible.

Additionally, the organization is enhancing accessibility for non-English speakers by offering professional medical interpretation services in over 200 languages. This ensures that more families can contribute to the cause, regardless of language barriers.

The need for donor milk is constant, especially for infants in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). By facilitating easier donations during the summer months, Mothers’ Milk Bank California is helping to secure essential nutrition for these vulnerable babies, offering them a stronger start in life.
