Mullen Automotive Reaches Settlement in Long-Standing Legal Dispute with GEM
Electric vehicle manufacturer Mullen Automotive has settled a four-year legal battle with GEM Yield Bahamas Limited, potentially resolving financial tensions and allowing the company to focus on its manufacturing expansion in Mississippi.

Mullen Automotive Inc. has executed a settlement agreement with GEM Yield Bahamas Limited and GEM Global Yield LLC SCS, bringing an end to a four-year legal dispute. Under the terms of the settlement, GEM will have a 55-day due diligence period to evaluate the transfer of Mullen's Mishawaka, Indiana assets, which will serve as full satisfaction of the previous judgment.
During this evaluation period, all collection activities will be suspended, providing Mullen with potential financial and operational breathing room. The company remains committed to expanding its manufacturing operations in Tunica, Mississippi, where it has already begun commercial vehicle production.
The settlement comes at a critical time for Mullen, which has recently achieved significant milestones in the electric vehicle market. In September 2023, the company received IRS approval for federal EV tax credits on its commercial vehicles, offering eligible customers up to $7,500 per vehicle. Additionally, both the Mullen ONE cargo van and Mullen THREE truck are California Air Resource Board and EPA certified and available for sale in the United States.
The resolution of this legal dispute could signal a strategic pivot for Mullen, allowing the company to concentrate on its growth strategy, including its recently expanded commercial dealer network and Foreign Trade Zone status in Tunica. These developments position Mullen to potentially capitalize on the growing demand for electric commercial vehicles across key U.S. markets.
