MWG Holdings Strengthens Commitment to Cannabis Criminal Justice Reform Through Partnership with Last Prisoner Project
MWG Holdings continues its partnership with the Last Prisoner Project, hosting an in-store fundraiser to support cannabis criminal justice reform, highlighting the industry's role in addressing past injustices.

MWG Holdings Group, Inc., a prominent cannabis company in California, has announced the continuation of its multi-year partnership with the Last Prisoner Project, a national nonprofit focused on cannabis criminal justice reform. Through an in-store fundraising campaign at its Perfect Union dispensaries, running through July, MWG aims to support the release of individuals incarcerated for cannabis offenses and repair the harms of criminalization.
Angelica Sanchez, MWG Holdings’ VP of Government Affairs and Compliance, emphasized the importance of addressing the injustices of cannabis prohibition. The partnership reflects a shared belief in the need for reform and the restoration of freedom to those affected by past laws. Since 2020, MWG and the Last Prisoner Project have collaborated to raise funds for legal support, policy reform advocacy, and reentry services.
The Last Prisoner Project has made significant strides, redistributing over $3.5 million to those in need and providing legal counsel to more than 400 individuals. Their efforts include sponsoring legislation like AB 1706 in California, a model for retroactive cannabis relief. Philip Feng of the Last Prisoner Project praised MWG's commitment to justice and equity, underscoring the collective responsibility to ensure no one is left behind as the cannabis industry evolves.
Customers can contribute to the cause by donating at Perfect Union dispensaries and Wild Seed Wellness stores across California. MWG's initiative is part of its broader community-focused approach, which includes supporting various nonprofits and reinforcing its reputation as a responsible operator in the cannabis sector.
